Sounds and patterns.

When I was a teenager, I was jealous of people synesthesia. My understanding of the phenomena was limited, but in my imagination it was the abiity to listen to sounds and music, and seeing it as beautiful patterns and moving art. Now, wouldn't that be absolutely fantastic? I had glorious daydreams of creating enormous artworks with beautiful music turned into some sort of 3D art experience that would surround you pysically like a room does.

That, I still think would be an awesome project. But in the meantime (awaiting massive technical skills, large sums of money and oceans of time) I found myself taking interest in sound/visual art in a much, much smaller format.

I stumbled upon an image of a beautiful insect on Pinterest, and started to envision what the talk, whisper and laughter of insects would look like if they were a pattern. And I have started making illustrations of that.

Ant's talk.

Beetle's whisper.
Picture
Bug's chatter.
These tiny fellows are available as prints and t-shirts here.
